It was a warm, breezy, overcast morning at Kiddie Beach in Channel Islands Harbor this morning. Bob Glickman was showing Peter O'Sullivan and me his new radio with some GPS feature when Lance arrived. Lance had declined paddling because it was his wife's birthday, but she must have figured it would be a better birthday without him. Soon Lance and Bob were headed south, and Peter & I paddled around the breakwater clockwise so we were with the wind on the outside. The water was choppy but it was an easy paddle with the wind at our back. We paddled up the harbor a ways and got a nice workout coming back against the wind. Bob and Lance reported they got a good workout against the wind and waves to the Hueneme Pier. There were a lot of birds diving in the water and they saw 2 dolphins. The first for many weeks. Last week, remember it was foggy, but they said they think they paddled all the way to the Hueneme Power Station, but never saw it. It was foggy all the way. It was a nice warm day, but we did not see the sun at all. That is the way it was this Sunday, the 23rd of July. |
