|Just as Lance Pillsbury, Bob Glicksman, Keith Elliott, Peter O'Sullivan and I launched from Kiddie Beach in Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, a very large yacht departed. We speculated it was the largest yacht we had seen, or seen in the harbor. We heard it is registered in the Cayman Islands,
We all made a trip to look at the Hikianalia, a wind- and solar-powered canoe. Voyaging Canoe Hikianalia to Visit Channel Islands Harbor We were surprised by how small the living space was and amazed at the work of wooden art the huge rudder is.

We then set out to the open ocean on calm seas, paddled about the same routes we paddle most weeks.
That is the way it was this Sunday before the Santa Ana winds start.
