Sunday July 29

|There were ten cruising kayaks launching from Kiddie Beach in Channel Islands Harbor. There were overcast skies with little surf or wind as we launched.
Lance Pillsbury and Bob Glicksman led the launch and headed to the Hueneme Power Plant. They reported calm seas and some fog. When they got to the 2 buoys off the power plant the fog was so thick they could not see the power plant.
Two paddlers in nice new kayaks, we visited with and saw them launch for a harbor paddle. We had met them before but, sorry, I cannot remember their names.
Peter O'Sullivan, Joe Barrett, Jason Miller, Billie Kroll, Keith Elliott, and I headed to the pond. Soon Billie was expertly demonstrating an offshoot of a T-rescue. We then headed to the entrance of the Port of Hueneme each finding a bit of a different path. A light fog blanketed us to make it visually interesting and pretty.
We landed back at the pond on Hollywood Beach, stretching and visiting. There were no mishaps on landing or launching. There were then several more practice rescues and rolls before landing back at Kiddie Beach. The beach was nearly empty today.
It was another nice day to be on the water.
That is the way it was this last Sunday in July 2018.
